    Time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model for light-induced superconductivity in the cuprate LESCO

    Cavalleri and coworkers have discovered evidence of light-induced superconductivity and related phenomena in several different materials. Here we suggest that some features may be naturally interpreted using a time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau model. In particular, we focus on the lifetime of the transient state in La1.675_{1.675}Eu0.2_{0.2}Sr0.125_{0.125}CuO4_4 (LESCO1/8_{1/8}), which is remarkably long below about 25 K, but exhibits different behavior at higher temperature.Comment: 5 pages, accepted by European Journal of Physics: Special Topic

    Electronic Structure and Linear Optical Properties of Sr2_{2}CuO2_{2}Cl2_{2} Studied from the First Principles Calculation

    First-principles calculations with the full-potential linearized augmented plane-wave (FP-LAPW) method have been performed to investigate detailed electronic and linear optical properties of Sr2_{2}CuO2_{2}Cl2_{2}, which is a classical low-dimensional antiferromagnet (AFM) charge transfer ({\it CT}) insulator. Within the local-spin-density approximation (LSDA) plus the on-site Coulomb interaction UU (LADA+UU) added on Cu 3d orbitals, our calculated band gap and spin moments are well consistent with the experimental and other theoretical values. The energy dispersion relation agrees well with the angle resolved photoemission measurements. Its linear optical properties are calculated within the electric-dipole approximation. The absorption spectrum is found to agree well with the experimental result.Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure

    Slip of fluid molecules on solid surfaces by surface diffusion

    The mechanism of fluid slip on a solid surface has been linked to surface diffusion, by which mobile adsorbed fluid molecules perform hops between adsorption sites. However, slip velocity arising from this surface hopping mechanism has been estimated to be significantly lower than that observed experimentally. In this paper, we propose a re-adsorption mechanism for fluid slip. Slip velocity predictions via this mechanism show the improved agreement with experimental measurements
